Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot
The Gold Ball draw takes place every Wednesday and Saturday as part of the Lotto 6/49 game. In every draw, one lucky player wins a guaranteed prize - either $1 million, or the Gold Ball Jackpot that ranges from $10 million to over $60 million.
The Gold Ball jackpot was introduced in September 2022, taking over from the Guaranteed Prize Draw.
How it Works
The Gold Ball Draw offers two ways to win. In each draw, players could hit either a $1 million guaranteed prize or a rolling Gold Ball Jackpot that ranges from $10 million to over $60 million.
The jackpot has a starting value of $10 million, and for each draw in which it's not won, it will roll over and grow by $2 million until someone takes it home.
The Gold Ball Draw is held in two parts. The first is for the Gold Ball numbers and guaranteed $1 million prize, and the second is for the Gold Ball Jackpot.
In the first draw, a 10-digit number set is randomly selected. If your 10-digit code matches the numbers drawn by the OLG, then at a minimum, you'll win the $1 million guaranteed prize.
The player with the matching 10 numbers also has the chance to win the larger Gold Ball Jackpot with a minimum value of $10 million. A separate Gold Ball Jackpot draw takes place with 30 balls, one of which is the Gold Ball.
If the Gold Ball is not drawn, the player wins $1 million.
The chances of winning the Gold Ball Jackpot increase with every draw until the Gold Ball is selected. Every time that the Gold Ball is not drawn, the next draw has one less ball in the ball pool and $2 million is added to the Gold Ball Jackpot.
If the Gold Ball is drawn, the player wins the Gold Ball Jackpot! The maximum it can reach is $68 million.
Previous Lotto 6/49 Guaranteed Prize Draw
Until September 2022, Lotto 6/49 had a Guaranteed Prize Draw rather than a Gold Ball jackpot.
Every player automatically received a 0-digit raffle code randomly generated by the lottery computer for every line of numbers they played in the main draw. The number set is made up of eight digits, a dash, and two final digits, in the format 12345678-01.
One winning number was selected at random on the night of each draw, and the player with a matching ticket would receive a guaranteed $1 million. Under the new rules, the $1 million is still guaranteed, but the winner has a chance to win so much more.
