Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw

The Classic Draw is the name given to the main draw in the Lotto 6/49 Ontario Lottery draw game. It was renamed as the Classic Draw following changes made to the game by OLG in the fall of 2022.

Tickets for the enhanced game went on sale from Sunday, September 11, 2022, with the first draw under the new rules taking place on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Changes to Lotto 6/49: Classic Draw

The jackpot has become a fixed $5 million prize, rather than increasing in every draw until it's won as it did previously. Players still have the chance to win it every Wednesday and Saturday evening if they match all six main numbers drawn.

The overall chances of winning any prize on the Classic Draw remain the same at 1 in 6.6, and the game continues to be played in exactly the same way. You still pick six numbers from 1 to 49, with the cost of tickets still the same.

Six numbers from 1 through 49 are randomly selected, plus a seventh bonus number from the 43 that are left.

The guaranteed prize draw was also given a makeover in September 2022; you can read more about that on the Gold Ball Jackpot page.

Previous Lotto 6/49 Main Draw

Previously, the Lotto 6/49 game featured two draws: a main draw with a rolling jackpot that started at $5 million, plus a $1 million guaranteed prize draw.

If there was no winner of the main draw, the jackpot would increase for the next draw. There was no limit to how high it could go, so it was known to go above $50 million on occasions.
